Supporting our diverse student community

This section includes information for supporting students who have children, students whose circumstances may change during their studies, including a name change, needs in relation to religious observance and many more circumstances where an extra helping hand or awareness may be needed.

Change of name, title and/or gender

Information and guidance about updating relevant records when a student changes their name, title and/or sex –  

Religious Observance

There is support for students which includes academic timetable accommodating religious observance where possible, spaces on campus for prayer, faith-based support and facilities and arrangements for students observing Ramadan. 

Students who have a short-term disability/injury

This section provides guidance on supporting students who have a short-term disability, illness or have an injury which is impacting their ability to engage with their studies.  

Students with caring responsibilities

This section links to relevant information for supporting students with children/caring responsibilities and students who are carers.   

Support for pregnant students

There is support for students who are pregnant and intend to continue their studies, which may include some flexibility to accommodate their needs.  Key starting points to help:
